Communicating Across Generations

Synopsis:
The leaders within any organization understand that communication is critical for success.
Aileen will facilitate a discussion on the different generations in the workforce and the communication needs and styles of each generation. Each generation has their own needs, their own style and their own strengths. As we become more aware of our own generation as well as others, new choices become possible.
This day is about helping you make those choices and setting on a course to build your communication skills across all generations.
Based on the experiences of Aileen and the participants in the room, this workshop will be filled with real life examples, which demonstrate the applicability of the ideas. You will be able to practice applying the ideas during the session and then immediately implement the ideas at work, at home and in your communities.
Objectives:
Develop and enhance the contributions that you make to your organization and your communities by being better able to:
Understand the four generations that you work with daily—Traditionalist, Baby Boomer, Generation Xers and Generation Yers
Evaluate the events and people that shaped each generation
Recognize the stereotypes that prevent us from understanding different generations
Identify Areas that cause frustration
Communicate effectively with all four generations of staff, co-workers, and customers.
Develop specific approaches for successfully recruiting, retaining, motivating and managing a multi-generational workforce.
Understand the importance of succession planning and knowledge transfer and how employees at every level in the organization can play a critical role.
